Definition of scientific research
Scientific research is a method for describing facts through a set of criteria that contribute to the growth of knowledge. It should be noted that researchers have differed in its definition; According to their inclinations and scientific convictions, including the following:

(Abdul Baset Khader) defined it as: “An organized intellectual process carried out by a person called (the researcher), in order to investigate the facts in a particular issue or problem called (the subject of research), by following an organized scientific method called (the research method).

In order to reach appropriate solutions for treatment, or to achieve results that are valid to generalize to similar problems called (research results). He (Muhammad Enaya) defined it as: “organized investigation by following specific scientific methods and approaches to scientific facts; with the intention of verifying its validity, amending it, or adding new information to it.

Frederick Kerlinger defined it as: “a critical, systematic, and controlled empirical investigation of assumptions that determine the nature of the relationships between the variables of a given phenomenon.” It was noted that there are many definitions of the concept of scientific research, but all of these definitions share several points as follows:

Scientific research does not depend on following non-scientific methods such as expertise, as it follows a systematic approach and method in research. Scientific research has the ability to adapt within the environment being studied and thus the ability to control it. It aims to increase and expand human knowledge.

Scientific research is concerned with testing all the information it obtains, verifying its validity, confirming it experimentally, and then publishing and announcing it. Scientific research is used in various fields, whether educational, social, economic, professional, and cognitive alike

It includes all fields of life with their different problems. Scientific research can be defined based on the above as a planned process, characterized by objectivity, and dependent on a set of steps; With the aim of researching a specific phenomenon, knowing the facts, and the principles necessary to discover solutions related to problems, and in all fields.

The development of scientific research stages
Many different methods and methods have been used in order to gain access to knowledge, and these methods are steps that indicate the stages of the development of scientific research, and the stages can be divided according to the following, taking into account that these stages are linked together and not separated from each other:

The stage of chance: This stage was characterized by the lack of any interest in searching for the causes of phenomena or problems. The occurrence of these phenomena and problems has been attributed to chance. The stage of trial and error, and reliance on experience: This stage was characterized by repeated attempts until a solution to the problem faced by any person was found.

And then gain experience that helps him in solving simple problems that he may face in his life. The stage of relying on authority and traditions: the opinions and ideas of those in authority, politicians and clerics, were relied upon, regardless of their validity during this stage.

The stage of speculation, contemplation, debate, and dialogue: liberation from the power of authority and the prevailing traditions during this stage; Where researchers have become dependent on controversy, debate, and logic to reach an explanation of phenomena and solve the problems they face, and the most important characteristic of this stage is the emergence of inductive thinking.

Which arrives at knowledge by moving from partial examples to the final result, and the emergence of analogical thinking, which depends on moving from introductions to arriving at the final result. The stage of the scientific method: the scientific method was initially used to access information in the field of natural sciences

Then its use was expanded to include the humanities and social sciences, and the scientific method is applied by carrying out a number of steps, namely: setting hypotheses, collecting data, and conducting experiments with the aim of negating or supporting the hypotheses developed depending on the results that have been reached
